TL;DR
  • A new rumor suggests Samsung could be working on Galaxy OS, with deeper AI integration through Google and third-party partnerships.
  • The tipster claims One UI 10 could bring a major overhaul alongside the Galaxy S28 series.
  • Samsung hasn’t confirmed any of these plans, and no other reliable sources have corroborated the rumor.

Samsung has called its Android software One UI for years, and Galaxy users have seen it change quite a bit along the way. We’ve had visual overhauls, new customization options, and, more recently, a growing list of Galaxy AI features. But Samsung may be planning something even bigger for its next major software update, and it could come with a new name.

According to an X user known as Phonefuturist, Samsung could be working on something called Galaxy OS. The tipster claims that Samsung is strengthening its partnership with Google and exploring deeper AI integration across its software. It could also partner with third-party services, some of which may be paid, though the details are still unclear.

Now, Galaxy AI is already a big part of Samsung phones, but there’s certainly room to make it more useful. For example, instead of opening multiple apps to find a photo, edit it, and share it with someone, imagine doing all of that with a single request. That’s just one possibility for what deeper AI integration could look like, not something the leak specifically mentions.

But here’s where things get a little confusing. When someone on X asked whether Samsung was planning to completely revamp One UI, Phonefuturist clarified that it would still be One UI. According to the tipster, their sources used the name Galaxy OS to describe the software. They also suggested that One UI 10 could bring a major overhaul around the time the Galaxy S28 series arrives.

So does that mean Samsung is preparing to drop the One UI branding altogether, or is Galaxy OS just a name used behind the scenes? It’s too early to tell.

It’s also worth taking this rumor with a pinch of salt. We’re not yet familiar enough with this tipster’s track record to judge how reliable this information might be, and we’d like to see other established sources back it up before reading too much into it.

Still, the idea itself isn’t hard to believe. Samsung has been steadily expanding Galaxy AI, and making those features work more naturally across the phone would be a welcome improvement. Whether that comes with a completely new look, a different name, or a more capable version of One UI remains to be seen. For now, though, there’s little reason to believe the familiar One UI name will go anywhere soon.
