Samsung could finish its One UI 5 rollout very soon
- A Samsung executive says it wants to finish the One UI 5 rollout before the end of 2023.
- The company has already brought the Android 13 update to a host of devices, both new and old.
Samsung is on a roll with the Android 13-based One UI 5 update, bringing the update to a host of devices already. From the latest flagship phones to old budget handsets, it’s hard to argue that the company isn’t leading the pack in terms of supported devices.
Now, Samsung Electronics executive Sally Hyesoon Jeong has revealed to SamMobile that it hopes to bring the Android 13 update to all supported smartphones before the year is out:
For the major models, we have already made the announcement on Samsung Members, and the rollout is being carried out in most markets across the globe. However, from an engineering and product management perspective, it’s not possible to give a definite date for every eligible model but we would like to complete the rollout within this year.
That means the company has just over a month to go to bring One UI 5 to all eligible handsets. But Samsung has shown some impressive pace already, so we wouldn’t be surprised if it indeed achieves this goal.
In saying so, one concern with a brisk update rollout is that major bugs could slip through the cracks. Hyesoon Jeong acknowledged this, saying that “a conscious decision was made to provide updates in the most reliable manner without compromising on pace.”
