  • Early One UI 9.5 test builds reveal upcoming changes to Samsung Calendar and Samsung Health.
  • Samsung Calendar is getting a cleaner, grid-free interface, a relocated search button, and a new Key events section.
  • Samsung Health is gaining Mindful note, a new journaling feature with guided prompts and daily reminders.

Samsung’s One UI 9 rollout is still underway, but that isn’t stopping the South Korean tech giant from preparing its next big software update. With One UI 9.5 currently in development, and an early beta build for the Galaxy S26 Ultra already spotted on a test server, we’re starting to inch closer to Samsung’s second Android 17-based update.

Samsung hasn’t detailed what’s coming with the update, but that hasn’t stopped testers from getting their hands on the unreleased software and uncovering the changes.

The latest discoveries shed light on two first-party apps: Samsung Health and Samsung Calendar, both of which appear to be getting some love with One UI 9.5, as highlighted by SamMobile.

Samsung Calendar

The image on the left highlights what Google Calendar looks like with One UI 9, while the image on the right highlights what it could look like with One UI 9.5.

There are three main notable changes here. For starters, Samsung appears to have removed the individual rectangular backgrounds surrounding each date, so instead of appearing against a contrasting cell, dates now simply float against a black background. This makes the boundaries between dates much less obvious. At the same time, it gives the view a lot more room to breathe.

Secondly, the search button has been relocated from the top right of the view to the bottom right, sitting right next to the Add event pill. Speaking of which, the pill itself now surfaces less text. It only says “Add event” without referencing the currently selected date.

Elsewhere, the search screen now also appears to highlight a new Key events section, which reportedly displays important events as pill-shaped shortcuts. As seen in the second screenshot above, the section will appear above the existing calendar and color menus. And as seen in the last image above, the app’s sidebar is being reorganized too. The Sync now, Recycle bin, and Settings options now appear to have been relocated above the account list.

The updated Samsung Health offers some UI changes, but the bigger addition here is Mindful note, a new in-app journaling feature. The addition aims to offer Samsung users a safe place to reflect, note down thoughts, and “capture a moment, a feeling, or whatever comes to mind.”

You have the option to start with a blank slate or get some ideas with prompts, including About yourself, Relationships, Work and goals, and What if…? There’s also an option to set reminders, which should come in handy if you’re trying to make journaling a daily habit.

The changes mentioned above have only been spotted in prerelease software. These might never make it out widely, and if they do, they might or might not look and function as described here.
