  • Samsung has reportedly confirmed that its first Android XR smart glasses will launch in November.
  • The display-less glasses will use cameras, microphones, speakers, and Gemini while leaning on a connected Galaxy phone for heavier AI processing.
  • Pricing and an exact launch date are still unknown, but the glasses have already passed through the FCC.

Samsung’s smart glasses only just showed up at the FCC, which was the clearest sign yet that launch day is getting close. Now we may finally know how close.

According to The Korea Herald, a Samsung official has confirmed that the company’s first AI glasses will launch in November, narrowing the fall window Samsung and Google previously gave for their Android XR-powered eyewear.

Samsung first previewed its Intelligent Eyewear with Google at I/O in May, then gave us a closer look at Galaxy Unpacked in July. The company is working with Gentle Monster and Warby Parker on different frame designs, and recent FCC filings have revealed model numbers SM-O200J and SM-O200P, along with several variants of each.

Unlike XREAL’s Aura glasses, Samsung’s first-generation models won’t put a display in front of your eyes. Instead, they use cameras, microphones, speakers, and Gemini to understand what you see or hear. More demanding AI processing runs on a connected Galaxy phone, with the glasses serving more as a lightweight extension of your smartphone than a replacement.

That puts Samsung directly into the part of the smart glasses market that Meta already dominates. Counterpoint Research says global AI glasses shipments jumped 263% year over year in the first half of 2026, while display-less models accounted for 96% of shipments. Meta held 94% of that segment. Samsung reportedly wants the glasses to weigh up to 5g less than Meta’s camera-equipped models, which start at 51.5g.

The bigger challenge may be privacy. Samsung says LEDs inside and outside the frame will indicate when recording is active, and the camera will shut off if the external indicator is covered. That matters as camera-equipped glasses face growing scrutiny over covert recording.

Pricing is still unknown, and Samsung hasn’t announced an exact date for November. But after the FCC appearance, this report makes the launch feel much less distant.
