Oct 1, 2026 — 5:13 AM ET

- Samsung has started rolling out the redesigned SmartThings app to Android devices.
- The update brings a compact layout for cards and support for resizing and rearranging device and routine cards.
- The built-in TV remote now comes with a light mode option, and users can also resize or reposition it.
Samsung rolled out the redesigned SmartThings app a couple of days ago. Surprisingly, however, the update went out to iOS devices before it even arrived on Samsung’s own smartphones. Now, the refreshed SmartThings app is finally hitting Android devices.
The redesign appears to be rolling out with version 1.8.51.30 of the SmartThings app and looks nearly identical to the iOS build. The navigation bar now features a floating appearance, and the interface adopts a more compact layout for device and routine cards.
Devices and routines now appear as smaller, denser cards in the “Home” and “Devices” screens. However, the update also adds support for resizing and rearranging these cards, letting users customize the setup. Additionally, users can now tap on the icons on device and routine cards to quickly turn a device on/off or run a routine.
The Home tab includes a dedicated top section that displays useful information, such as weather updates and suggested routines. There’s also a “Favorites” section that displays pinned devices and routines for quicker access. The built-in TV remote has also been refreshed, adding a new light mode, as well as resizing and repositioning options.
You can download the SmartThings app from the Google Play Store or the Galaxy Store.
