Sling TV for free: Movies, series, and ABC and Fox News for shut ins (Update)
Update: March 19, 2020 – Sling TV has announced that it has added live streaming of the Fox News channel to its free slate of programming. It is also adding local Fox News from 18 cities, including New York City, Chicago, Atlanta and more.
Original story: March 18, 2020 – As more and more people are working or playing from home due to the coronavirus outbreak, we are seeing more offers popping up for free online services. The latest to join this trend is Sling TV for free. The internet-based live TV service is offering a free on-demand selection of movies and TV series. It’s also offering live access to the ABC News channel.
What is Sling TV for Free?
The service is calling this new offer “Stay in and Sling.” It’s available for Roku and Amazon Fire device owners and you can also watch the free content on the Android Sling TV app. PC owners can watch Sling TV for free by firing up their web browser and heading to the watch.sling.com site.
In addition to live news from ABC, anyone can stream a selection of TV shows such as Hell’s Kitchen, 21 Jump Street, The Greatest American Hero, and more. There are also free comedy specials and a selection of movies, although you should not expect huge Hollywood blockbusters to be on the list.
The service is also offering a special offer on its two Sling TV packages — the entry-level Blue and the more premium Orange — for new subscribers. For the first month, the cost of Blue will be $20, compared to the normal price of $30. Each package offers 47 live cable channels, including many of the major cable news channels.
Will you try out Sling TV while you are stuck at home for the next few weeks?
