Oct 8, 2026 — 4:06 AM ET

- Smart Launcher and Kustom Industries, the creator of KWGT, are merging to form a new brand called “Wild Pixels.”
- The collaboration will allow deeper integration between the offerings of the two teams.
- Details around the upcoming products remain scant, but the duo promises new tweaks and optimizations coming soon.
Smart Launcher is one of the many great custom launchers available to Android users. But it offers a few extra features, such as universal search and a custom RSS feed, that make it a tad more intriguing than other available options. Now, Smart Launcher is evolving into something smarter, partnering with another stalwart in the Android space.
Smart Launcher is merging with Kustom Industries, the team behind the iconic custom widget creator KWGT, to form a new organization called “Wild Pixels.” In a joint statement through a Reddit AMA, the two teams said this partnership will allow them to build tighter integrations between their offerings, adding that the partnerships would have been much harder to build separately.
In a separate blog post, Smart Launcher adds that this collaboration will allow them to build tools that also integrate well with other third-party launchers. They, however, haven’t shared details on new products expected from the partnership. The website also only vaguely mentions “digital products that give people more freedom to shape their experience,” but without revealing specifics.
In the AMA, Frank from Kustom Industries added that one of the first objectives would be to make KWGT have a more user-friendly UI. Responding to a Redditor requesting a liquid glass UI, they added that’s something that’s already being considered. Along with that, both teams will work towards a more unified design language, as well as bundles that are cheaper to purchase than the two apps separately. They clarified that the initial updates will focus on minor tweaks and optimizations.
Despite these promises, the duo added that the “formal process is not complete yet” and they “will share more details before everything is finalized.”
