Here's when the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 will launch
- Qualcomm has set a date for the presumed launch of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2.
- The company will hold its annual event from November 15 to November 17.
- This is earlier than usual for Qualcomm.
Like clockwork, Qualcomm launches its next-generation flagship mobile processor at the end of the year. Usually happening in December — and usually in Hawaii — the company closes out the year by announcing the flagship SoC of the next.
Today, Qualcomm confirmed the Hawaiian event’s dates: November 15 through November 17, 2022. Presumably, this is when the company will launch the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor.
Of course, Qualcomm hasn’t officially confirmed that. In fact, it hasn’t even been officially confirmed the processor would be called the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. However, considering the company made a big to-do about switching up the naming scheme last year, we doubt Qualcomm will change things up significantly this year.
Also, Qualcomm always uses the Hawaii event to launch the latest SoC, so it’s a bygone conclusion we’ll see the 8 Gen 2 somewhere within those November dates.
As you know, November is earlier than December. It’s possible Qualcomm is having this event a few weeks early this year to compensate for supply chain issues. It’s unclear why this event isn’t in December, but it’s not likely to make too much of a difference.
You can expect a ton of phones to launch with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 when it does land. Notably, the Galaxy S23 series should be the first globally available phones with the SoC.
