Snapdragon Tech Summit 2021 announced: The Snapdragon 898 edges closer
- The Snapdragon Tech Summit will take place from November 30 to December 2.
- Qualcomm is expected to announce the Snapdragon 888 successor during the event.
Qualcomm holds the Snapdragon Tech Summit at the end of each year, using the occasion to announce a new flagship smartphone processor. Now, the company has quietly announced the date for the 2021 edition of the summit.
The chip designer confirmed on its website that the 2021 Snapdragon Tech Summit would take place from November 30 to December 2 (h/t: FoneArena). Qualcomm didn’t dish out any more details, but we’re expecting to see the Snapdragon 898 processor (SM8450) at the event.
A leak earlier this year courtesy of veteran tipster Evan Blass has already given us a rough idea of what to expect. More specifically, the Snapdragon 898 is believed to offer a 4nm manufacturing process and a Snapdragon X65 modem.
Other apparent details include a Kryo 730 CPU based on the Armv9 architecture and an Adreno 730 GPU. In terms of the former, we’re expecting Qualcomm to adopt the Cortex-X2, Cortex-A710, and Cortex-A510 CPU cores. If it’s anything like the Snapdragon 888, we’ll see one Cortex-X2, three Cortex-A710s, and four Cortex-A510 cores.
What else could Qualcomm show off at the event? Well, it’s been a while since we saw a new high-end Snapdragon SoC for laptops, so we’ll keep an eye on this segment too. We’re not expecting to see processors with Nuvia CPUs just yet though, as the company previously stated that these chips would only be ready for sampling in the second half of 2022.
