Snapseed for Android could soon become a pro photographer's best friend with LUT support
Aug 19, 2026 — 10:04 AM ET

- Snapseed v4.1.4 for Android contains code for importing custom .cube LUT files for precise and uniform color grading.
- The app is also preparing to bring the Motion Blur tool, previously seen on iOS, over to the Android app.
- Both features were manually enabled ahead of launch and haven’t been announced for Android yet.
Google appears to be giving Snapseed quite some attention lately. Following recent signs of new color grading options and creative tools, Snapseed is now preparing to add support for importing and applying custom Look-Up Tables (LUTs) and to bring the brand-new Motion Blur tool from iOS to the Android app.

We spotted both of these upcoming features in the latest Snapseed v4.1.4.966755460 release for Android. LUT support is new to the app altogether, while the iOS release of Snapseed already features the Motion Blur tool. We managed to enable both of them in the Android app ahead of their launch.
Snapseed could soon get LUT support
A Cube LUT (Look-Up Table) with a .cube extension is a data file used in photo and video editing. These files map specific input color values to new output color values, almost like a math recipe. This allows users to use these LUT files as a universal color-grading preset to instantly adjust tones, contrast, hues, and more, transforming flat/”bland” images into a desired or uniform cinematic look.
Snapseed’s upcoming LUT tool will let users import standard .cube files directly into the editor to apply the consistent look from that LUT to their image.
Snapseed’s LUT tool will also give creators granular control over technical parameters, letting them configure color profiles, including the specific Color Space and Gamma curve for the imported LUT.
Snapseed is also working to bring Motion Blur tool to Android
Alongside LUT support, Snapseed is also working on a dedicated Motion Blur tool. While iOS beta users have already seen the feature, the underlying code is also present in the latest stable Android build. The Motion Blur tool aims to add realistic linear or radial movement to static shots.
In the Android app, some parts of the Motion Blur tool, such as basic directional blur, work, but tapping other buttons within the feature crashes the app. The tool is understandably a work in progress at the moment.
There is no official word on when Google plans to enable and roll out LUT imports or the Motion Blur tool to the stable Android release. However, given their presence in the app’s stable release, an official rollout could be around the corner, once Google irons out all issues.
