Received a Spotify link as a YouTube Music user? SongFlip fixes the mismatch with no extra taps

Between Spotify, YouTube Music, and Apple Music, most of us have picked a side in the streaming wars, but our friends and family rarely land on the same platform. In my case, I juggle Apple Music and YouTube Music, while most of my social circles share tracks via either Spotify or YouTube Music. Tapping a song link shared in a group chat usually ends in annoyance: landing on the wrong app or a sluggish web preview, leaving me to manually copy and search the title myself, and I know a bunch of people don’t even bother at all. A clever new Android app called SongFlip finally fixes this platform fragmentation by automatically intercepting music links and launching them directly in your preferred music player, with no extra taps.

Unlike web aggregator services that make you click through a landing page, SongFlip: Music Link Redirect works entirely in the background as a zero-click link redirector on your phone. The setup leverages Android’s native App Links architecture to catch incoming URLs before they open elsewhere.

SongFlip supports most (if not all) major platforms, including Apple Music, YouTube Music, Spotify, Tidal, Deezer, and Amazon Music, and lets you select where you want the music to play. During setup, you can choose the music domains that you want the app to intercept. Once set up, you can tap an incoming link in any external messaging app like WhatsApp, Instagram, Telegram, or even Slack, and SongFlip will catch the URL and launch the track directly inside your preferred music app.

If an app like Spotify insists on claiming its own URLs, you can also send tracks directly via the Android Share Sheet or toggle on clipboard auto-detection, which surfaces an actionable pop-up banner whenever you copy a music streaming link. There’s also Shazam link interception, where songs identified by Shazam open directly and reliably in your preferred music player.

The free tier of the open-source app provides the full core functionality without ads or account creation. There’s also an optional “SongFlip Pro” in-app purchase that unlocks Song History, which lets you track, manage, and replay previously converted songs.

If you don’t want to install yet another app on your device, there’s also an online web converter at songflip.link, functioning similarly to other such web services, where you can paste a URL and choose your destination manually. I’d suggest trying out the Android app for the zero-click experience. There’s also an iOS beta app in the works, available through TestFlight.

I tried SongFlip with YouTube Music links that opened seamlessly in Apple Music, saving me from searching for those songs manually. I can definitely see it saving my group chat headaches in the long run. However, I’d also love a way for the app to accept outgoing links and convert them into universal links, a feature available in the online web converter.
