Spotify just gave Meta Muse the keys to your music
Sep 24, 2026 — 6:17 AM ET

- Spotify now works with Meta Muse, letting users control playback, find content, save tracks, and build playlists through conversation.
- Muse can also use context from calendars and schedules to automatically start the right music or podcast at the right time.
- Spotify is the first major music-streaming service to join Muse, which already connects with a growing list of third-party apps and services.
Two weeks ago, Meta’s Muse arrived asking for the keys to your digital life. The personal AI agent can already work across email, calendars, payments, health apps, and shopping, and Meta is also bringing it to its smart glasses. Now Muse wants the aux cord, too.
Spotify has announced a new integration that lets the agent control your listening and do more than simply press play. Once you connect Spotify to Muse, you can ask the agent to play music, podcasts, or audiobooks; save tracks to your Library; find something new; and build or edit playlists through conversation. Muse can also create Spotify’s Personal Podcasts from your notes and briefings.

The more interesting bit is where this goes beyond another chatbot bolted onto a music app. Muse can combine Spotify with context from elsewhere. Spotify’s example is a road trip on your calendar: Muse can build a playlist around the destination and schedule it to start when you leave. You could similarly have a workout playlist start at 7 AM or automatically play focus music when a work block starts.
For listeners who enjoy obsessing over queues, albums, and carefully curated playlists, handing the DJ booth to an AI agent may sound like sacrilege. But the scheduling and cross-app automation are the real hook. Spotify already has plenty of AI-powered discovery tools; Muse is trying to make listening another action inside a larger personal workflow.
Spotify is hardly joining an empty party. Confirmed Muse connectors span Gmail, Google Calendar, Outlook, OpenTable, Peloton, Plaid, and Meta’s own apps, while Stripe handles payments, and Shopify is bringing Shop Pay checkout to the agent. Among major music-streaming platforms, though, Spotify currently appears to have the field to itself.
That makes Spotify less of a random add-on and more of another major name buying into Meta’s connector strategy. Muse only launched in the US on September 8, but its pitch is quickly becoming clear: one conversation, many apps, fewer taps.
