Original article, August 7, 2019 (3:50AM EDT): Sprint launched its 5G network earlier this year, offering several compatible phones as well. But the carrier isn’t stopping there, as it’s just announced that it will launch a OnePlus 5G smartphone on its network.
The U.S. carrier didn’t reveal any more details about the device, but OnePlus already offers the OnePlus 7 Pro 5G in the U.K. and several other markets.
Aside from connectivity, the OnePlus 7 Pro 5G is identical to the 4G model. Both devices offer a Snapdragon 855 chipset, 6.67-inch AMOLED screen (QHD, 90Hz), triple rear cameras, pop-up selfie camera, and a 4,000mAh battery.

It’s noteworthy that the 5G variant offers the same battery capacity as the 4G model, as early 5G phones are expected to consume more power than otherwise identical 4G phones.
It’s for this reason that we’ve seen companies like LG and Xiaomi offer bigger batteries in their 5G phones. Toss in that 90Hz screen and you should definitely expect shorter endurance in theory than the 4G-enabled OnePlus 7 Pro.
“We value OnePlus’ reputation for balancing high-end quality at a great value,” said Dow Draper, Sprint chief commercial officer, in a press release. “This new smartphone gives Sprint customers another exciting option for accessing their True Mobile 5G experience.”
We’ve contacted OnePlus to confirm that the OnePlus 7 Pro 5G is indeed coming to Sprint. Nevertheless, the U.S. carrier says we can expect pricing, specs, and availability details “soon.” In the U.S. and can’t wait to get your hands on a OnePlus device? Well, you can always grab the 4G-toting OnePlus 7 Pro via T-Mobile.
