Stranger Things was already a hugely popular show since premiering on Netflix in 2016, with its mix 1980s nostalgia, teen drama, science fiction, and horror. However, the launch of the first part of its fourth season in late May 2022 resulted in much bigger viewing numbers than first predicted. The streamer confirmed that in its first three days (May 27-29), Season 4’s first seven episodes had a total viewing time of 286.79 million hours, which is the highest ever for an English language series debut on Netflix. Not only that, but the series’s first three seasons all reentered the top 5 most-viewed English language Netflix series for that same time period.

However, the Duffer brothers, the creators of Stranger Things, decided to let their massive fan base wait a few weeks, before Stranger Things Season 4 Part 2 debuts on Netflix. So when is Stranger Things Season 4 Part 2 going to debut on Netflix? Read on for a breakdown of what we know about the latest season’s final episodes.

Will there be a Stranger Things Season 5?

If you’ve been waiting to watch until the series is complete, you’re almost there.

The Duffer Brothers have confirmed that Stranger Things will be back for a fifth and final season. When that will stream on Netflix is still unknown.

How many episodes will there be in Stranger Things Season 4 Part 2?

Labeling them “episodes” almost feels misleading. The second part of season 4 will actually be composed of two movie-length installments. Stranger Things Season 4 episodes were already much longer than previous seasons, but the last two episodes will go even further.

The Netflix Tudum fan site stated that Stranger Things Season 4 Episode 8 will have a run time of 1 hour and 25 minutes. According to the official Stranger Things writers’ Twitter page, the final runtime for the final episode of Stranger Things Season 4 Part 2 will be 2 hours and 19 minutes. By comparison, the longest episode of the series so far has been Season 4 Episode 7, which clocked in at 1 hour 38 minutes.

What is Stranger Things Season 4 Part 2 about?

Without going into spoilers for the first seven episodes of Season 4, you can expect Stranger Things Season 4 Part 2 to be truly epic. In a chat with Empire, co-creator Matt Duffer confirmed that the ninth and final episode will have more special effects than were used in all of Stranger Things Season 3. You can check out a trailer for Part 2 above. Don’t watch or read the following description if you don’t want any spoilers.

“It is over, Eleven,” we hear Vecna telling Millie Bobby Brown’s character. “You have freed me. You can’t stop this now.”

We don’t know much about what the final part of the season has in store, but it looks like a big showdown with Vecna is coming. With Eleven still trying to get her powers back, there’s an added level of tension at play here. Can she find the strength to stop him, or will Vecna allow the Upsidedown to spill into our reality? Will we learn more about ELeven’s backstory through Vecna? does their former connection at the Hawkins lab hold the key to sealing off the Upsidown once and for all?

You’ll have to watch Stranger Things Season 4 Part 2 on July 1 to find out.
