T-Mobile now has a 600MHz hotspot, going for $3 per month
Today, T-Mobile is launching the Coolpad Surf, a mobile hotspot that’s notable for being the world’s first with access to the coveted 600MHz spectrum (a.k.a. Band 71).
Band 71 is one of T-Mobile’s most-prized pieces of spectrum, as it allows for faster data speeds in rural areas — where T-Mobile coverage is notoriously spotty.
The Coolpad Surf can access that 600MHz spectrum and can also access 4G LTE Bands 2, 4, 12, 66, and can even access 3G Bands 1, 2, and 4 just in case there’s no LTE available in your area.
Inside the Coolpad Surf is a 2,150mAh battery which the company claims can give you 48 hours of standby time as well as over five hours of continuous use. The device can also handle up to 15 connections at once.

If you’re a T-Mobile customer interested in the device, you can add it to an eligible data plan for only $3 per month for 24 months. If you don’t want to do that, you can pay for the unit outright by spending $72 up front. The cheapest plan for the Surf gets you 2GB of data for only $10 per month (with Auto Pay).
