T-Mobile temporarily upgrading some customers to unlimited data
There has been good news cropping up for some T-Mobile customers in the past couple of days. The US carrier has begun handing out free upgrades to a number of its customers, which sees some now receiving unlimited data at no extra charge. T-Mobile hasn’t made a big hoo-ha about the program, but customers up and down the country have begun receiving text messages about the promotion.
According to the promotional web page, customers who are on 10GB data plans are being bumped up to unlimited data. Customers still receive the same amount of tethered data that they had each month, however they can no longer use Data Stash to carry over tethering data to the next month, as they’re now on an unlimited package.
Customers on older 2.5GB and 5GB plans are receiving an extra 1GB of data on their plan for free, which can be used for either tethering or regular downloads. These free data upgrades will run until February 28th 2019, and will then revert back to the original package on March 1st.
Given that T-Mobile hasn’t announced anything officially, it’s not clear if this will be rolling out to every T-Mobile customer, or if just select accounts are being upgraded. It looks like the latter. Either way, lucky customers should receive a text message about the promotion between September 7th and 9th. Have you received yours?
