IFA is one of the big tech events of the year, giving tech media and the public alike a chance to check out the latest gadgets. What was announced at IFA 2024, though? Here are the biggest product announcements you should know about.

What to expect at IFA 2024?

Plenty of companies attended IFA 2024, either with a direct presence or by holding an event on the sidelines. Here are some of the most notable products announced by these brands.

Acer

Acer had no shortage of products to reveal at IFA 2024. The most notable announcement for gamers has to be the Acer Nitro Blaze 7 handheld. This is a PC-based handheld running Windows 11 and offering a Ryzen AI chip. Other features include a 144Hz screen, 16GB of RAM, up to 2TB of expandable storage, and a 50Wh battery.

The PC maker also debuted the $1,000 Swift Go 14 AI, which is the first Acer laptop with the new Snapdragon X Plus 8-core processor. Too boring for you? Then Acer showed off the Project DualPlay concept laptop, which has a built-in controller that doubles as a touchpad. The PC even has pop-out speakers for improved audio.

In the market for a no-frills Android tablet? Acer has you covered here, too, thanks to the Iconia X12. This device packs a $349 price tag, a 12.6-inch AMOLED screen, quad speakers, and a 10,000mAh battery. It’s only going on sale in January 2025, though, and it’s running a budget 4G chip.

ASUS

Taiwanese brand ASUS also made an appearance at IFA 2024. It revealed that the previously announced VivoBook S15 and ProArt PZ13 devices are now available with Snapdragon X Plus 8-core chips.

ASUS also announced a slew of Copilot Plus PCs powered by Intel’s Lunar Lake chips. So you don’t have to opt for a Snapdragon PC if you really want a Copilot Plus device.

HONOR

HONOR used IFA 2024 to launch the HONOR Magic V3 foldable globally. This is the thinnest foldable phone in the world, measuring just 9.2mm thick for the Black variant. Expect to pay £1,699 (~$2,236) for the device when it goes on sale, although it’s unfortunately missing the US.

The company also revealed three more products on the day, including the MagicBook Art 14 laptop, the MagicPad 5 tablet, and the HONOR Watch 5. The laptop stands out due to its unique detachable webcam, using magnets to clip onto the lid.

HMD

The Finnish smartphone brand is finally offering HMD-branded smartphones in 2024, and the HMD Fusion is a pretty intriguing device. This is a modular phone that has a variety of add-ons or “outfits.” These include a rugged add-on, a gamepad, a ring light module, and a wireless charging case.

Otherwise, the HMD Fusion is clearly a budget phone for the most part. There’s a Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 processor, IP54 splash protection, a 6.56-inch 90Hz LCD panel, a 5,000mAh battery with 33W wired charging, and 128GB or 256GB of expandable storage. But you’re also getting a repairable design and support for those aforementioned add-ons. Not bad for just £199/€249.

Lenovo

Lenovo had more than its fair share of products to show off, and perhaps the most eye-catching device was the Lenovo Auto Twist AI PC concept. This concept laptop is able to automatically twist its screen to follow you, using a webcam to track your face. Furthermore, you can use voice commands to automatically open or close the lid. Weird, but it could be great for accessibility purposes.

The company also announced a variety of commercial laptops, including a trio of Snapdragon X Plus 8-core laptops. The ThinkBook 16 Gen 7 is probably the cheapest Snapdragon X PC on the market right now, starting at $749.

Qualcomm

Qualcomm announced the Snapdragon X Plus 8-core chip in Berlin. This chip is intended for PCs starting at around $800, although we do see some compromises as a result. These cutbacks include the aforementioned eight-core CPU, weaker graphics, and less cache. But you’ve still got a powerful NPU for Copilot Plus features.

Many PC makers announced computers with this chip at IFA, including ASUS, Acer, and Lenovo. Prices vary wildly, though, from $749 to over $1,000.

Samsung

Samsung also had a major presence at IFA 2024, and perhaps the most high-profile product announcement was a cheaper Galaxy Book 4 Edge laptop. This is powered by the new Snapdragon X Plus 8-core chip instead of the vanilla X Plus or X Elite chips. Expect a 15.6-inch display, up to 16GB of RAM, up to 512GB of storage, and several ports. There’s no word on pricing just yet, but the device will be available in Europe, the UK, and the US.

TCL

TCL announced two new smartphones in Berlin, namely the €299 TCL 50 Pro NXTPAPER 5G and the €229 TCL 50 NXTPAPER 5G. The two phones share several features, with one of the biggest additions being a NXTPAPER button to quickly switch to a minimalistic, e-ink-style experience. The phones also offer AI summaries and translation, as well as AI voice memo smarts.

The TCL 50 Pro NXTPAPER 5G is, unsurprisingly, the more capable phone. It features a 6.8-inch 120Hz screen, a Dimensity 6300 chip, 8GB of RAM, 512GB of storage, a 5,010mAh battery, and a headphone jack. It also packs a 108MP+8MP+2MP triple rear camera setup. Unfortunately, the Pro device isn’t coming to the US in 2024.

TECNO

TECNO

Chinese smartphone manufacturer TECNO was expected to launch two new foldable phones at IFA, but it launched new laptops and several other gadgets instead. Our favorite product was the Pocket Go Windows AR gaming system.

This system consists of a pair of cinema glasses featuring a micro-LED screen and a gaming controller that runs Windows. The gamepad packs an AMD Ryzen 7 8840HS chip and a 50Wh removable battery. There’s no word on pricing and availability yet, but this might be up your alley if you want to play PC games on the go and don’t want to lug around a hefty portable.
