Testers wanted to try out MIUI 8 based on Nougat for Xiaomi Mi 5
If you own a Xiaomi Mi 5 phone, you may get a chance to try out the company’s latest custom interface, MIUI 8, updated for Android 7.0 Nougat. The company is signing up owners for the chance to test the Nougat version of MIUI 8.
In its announcement post, Xiaomi stated that this week it is looking for people who own the Mi 5 in China, with the deadline of November 21. The good news is that next week, the company plans to begin MIUI 8 Nougat testing sign ups for global ROM owners of the Mi 5.
You will need to go on a PC to apply for testing at the MIUI website. Besides the requirement of owning an Mi 5 phone, interested testers must have at least some knowledge about ROMs and be active in the forums. They also must be willing to chat with other members about their experience in the QQ alpha group and forums. Finally, they must use the QQ app
It goes without saying, but we will say it again anyway: If you do get picked to test MIUI 8 Nougat on your Xiaomi Mi 5, the ROM that you will download and install is labeled as an alpha build, so expect a bunch of annoying bugs to pop up. More updates from Xiaomi about future MIUI 8 Nougat releases for its other smartphones will be revealed in the future.
