What is The Batman about?
After years in development, and originally set to star Ben Affleck, continuing his tenure as Batman after Batman v Superman and Justice League, The Batman is finally here.
Directed by Matt Reeves, the new film sees Bruce Wayne (Batman) working with James Gordon and Selina Kyle (Catwoman) to take down a sadistic killer who’s leaving cryptic clues behind.
We won’t spoil anything, but notable characters from the comics and previous films return, including The Riddler, Penguin, Carmine Falcone, and more, in this noir, gritty, street-level take on the Caped Crusader.
It’s still not clear whether Warner Bros. will try to roll this version of the Dark Knight into its growing DC Expanded Universe, but for now, The Batman is a brand-new, standalone entry in the character’s history.
