Ubisoft's beautiful new Rayman Adventures game is out now on Android
Well, it’s a little later than originally planned, but Ubisoft has finally brought its new Rayman game to the Google Play Store. Available now for free, Rayman Adventures totes a similar gameplay style to previous titles in the franchise, along with some improved visuals, new controls and much more.
One of the first things you’ll notice about Rayman Adventures are the graphics. This game is beautiful. After playing it for only a few minutes, it’s still pretty difficult to understand just how a game can be so good-looking on a mobile device. Aside from improved graphics, Rayman Adventures is pretty similar to other Rayman titles. It’s a side-scroller, and Rayman moves on his own. So it’s your job to make him jump, hang on to ledges, and smash into things.
As for the storyline, Rayman is on a mission to rescue the captured Incrediballs (little ball-shaped monsters that follow you around through each level). Each Incrediball has a special power that will help you through each mission. The main goal in this game is to retrieve the ancient eggs that have been scattered across the world. Ancient eggs sustain the sacred tree, you see. No ancient eggs means no sacred tree, and that’s bad news for you and me.
You can choose to play as Rayman or Barbara, his Viking companion. The ability to play as someone other than Rayman certainly helps the game become less monotonous, and less like other Rayman titles.
Overall, this is a fun game. It’s pretty addicting, too. You should know that this is a free-to-play title, so get ready for an onslaught of in-app purchases. You can spend real money to take care of your Incrediballs (yes, they actually need to be fed), or you can buy them food with one of the many in-game currencies you’ll collect throughout the game.
Should you download Rayman Adventures? Yes. But only if you don’t mind IAPs.
