Venmo is the latest payment app to support cryptocurrency
- Venmo has launched cryptocurrency support in its app.
- The service supports the buying, holding, and selling of four cryptocurrencies.
We saw Google Pay and Samsung Pay gain cryptocurrency support earlier this year, allowing users to pay for transactions using Bitcoin and more. Now, rival mobile payment app Venmo has announced support for cryptocurrencies as well.
Crypto for Venmo will allow the app’s users to buy, hold, and sell four types of cryptocurrency. These currencies are Bitcoin, Bitcoin Cash, Ethereum, and Litecoin. Users can choose to spend as little as $1 on buying cryptocurrency, using funds from their Venmo balance or via linked accounts and cards.
In addition to the aforementioned abilities, the Venmo app will also give users access to cryptocurrency trends, how-to videos, and guides.
Crypto for Venmo is rolling out from today and will be available for both Android and iOS apps. Not seeing it in your app just yet? Well, the mobile payment app cautions that it will be available to all users “within the next few weeks.”
Either way, we’re glad to see more big-name payment apps natively supporting cryptocurrencies, as it should make for a more accessible experience for newbies and veterans alike.
