Verizon LG G3 gets Android 5.0 Lollipop
While LG was fairly prompt with rolling out an update to Android 5.0 Lollipop for the LG G3 in Europe and South Korea, this timeliness didn’t apply to the US market. About two months ago, AT&T became the first US carrier to offer the update to the G3, and a week ago T-mobile followed suit. Now it’s Verizon’s turn.
This weekend, Verizon made the update available through the Verizon Software Upgrade Assistant but now it looks like the OTA is rolling as well. As for what the update brings? While the Material Design elements of Lollipop aren’t that apparent here due to LG’s custom software, there are improvements including searchable settings, the new app switching menu, and more. You’ll also get many of Lollipop’s speed and performance improvements, though the latest sweet treat also introduces many of its own bugs — though that’s a story for another day.
Keep in mind that this is a staged rollout, so don’t be surprised if you have to wait hours, days, or even a week or more before the update is available for you. Anyone upgrade yet? If so, what do you think so far?
