Poll: What video quality option do you use when recording on your phone?

We’ve seen huge strides in smartphone video quality over the years, going from standard definition in the late 2000s to FHD and even 4K recording in the early 2010s. In fact, it’s not uncommon to find flagship phones with 8K recording capabilities these days.

We do wonder what video quality setting Android Authority readers actually use when recording video though. Do you go for the highest resolution possible, do you prioritize frame-rate, or are you still shooting at the lowest resolution possible? Let us know by answering our poll below!

I like the idea of using 4K/60fps recording, still giving me plenty of resolution without sacrificing frame-rate. But my daily driver is the vivo X60 Pro Plus and its ultra-stable video mode only tops out at 1080p/60fps, while the 4K and 8K modes felt more juddery in my experience. So I stick with the 1080p/60fps mode instead.

I can also see a few people adopting 8K video recording, as it’s possible to treat this quality option like a burst photo mode, extracting ~33MP frames from clips. But the trade-off is that you’re getting huge file sizes.

We’ve also seen video quality vary by camera on some phones, with some devices offering 8K recording on the primary shooter but dropping down to 4K/60fps on the ultra-wide.
