This Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra rival could soon reach global markets

The foldable smartphone market is bigger than ever. While we’ve just seen Apple join the bandwagon, brands like Samsung have been riding it for years. Chinese OEM vivo has also been part of the game for a while now, and launched its latest, the X Fold 6, in its home market a few months ago. The manufacturer already confirmed the foldable would eventually launch globally, and we’re now gaining more details on that front.

According to renowned leaker Roland Quandt on Bluesky, vivo is gearing up to release the X Fold 6 in Europe imminently. While no specific date was offered, Quandt revealed that the foldable in the 12/512GB configuration may cost €2,199 (~$2,550) in the region.

Interestingly, this is the same price Samsung charges for the Z Fold 8 Ultra variant with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage in some European markets, such as Germany. The X Fold 6 is also sold in a 12/256GB variant, along with 512GB and 1TB models featuring 16GB of RAM. It’s unclear whether these configurations will also be available across Europe.

To refresh your memory on the vivo X Fold 6’s hardware, it features an 8.02-inch foldable AMOLED screen, paired with a 6.51-inch AMOLED cover display, both operating at 120Hz. The MediaTek Dimensity 9500 Super is vivo’s chipset of choice, along with the RAM and storage configurations mentioned above.

On the photography front, the X Fold 6 comes equipped with a 200MP primary camera on the back, complemented by a 50MP periscope telephoto unit with 3x optical zoom, and a 50MP ultrawide camera. Meanwhile, two 20MP sensors serve as the cover and primary display’s selfie cameras, respectively.

One of our favorite attributes of the vivo foldable is its mammoth 7,000mAh battery pack that should last significantly longer than the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra’s 5,000mAh unit, at least on paper. Android 16 runs out of the box on the X Fold 6, with vivo’s OriginOS 6 Fold skin on top.
