vivo X70 Pro renders leak: vivo's camera-focused phone breaks cover (Updated)
- Renders of the vivo X70 Pro have leaked online.
- The phone looks similar to its predecessor and packs ZEISS branding as well.
- vivo has since confirmed a September 9 launch date.
Update: August 30, 2021 (2:16 AM ET): vivo has now announced a launch date of September 9 for the X70 series in China. Check out the invite image below, via the firm’s Weibo account.
The company didn’t confirm whether we’ll see all three phones here (standard, Pro, Plus). We’re guessing this is the case based on the Pro and Plus models leaking last week, suggesting that both are set for an imminent launch. Either way, the phones will be equipped with the firm’s first custom imaging chip.
Original article: August 25, 2021 (4:59 AM ET): The vivo X60 series was a notable release of sorts for the company, as these were the first ZEISS-branded vivo devices. Rumors point to vivo readying the X70 series, and now apparent renders have leaked online.
vivo X70 Pro renders and a 360-degree video (seen below) surfaced online courtesy of 91mobiles and veteran leaker Steve Hemmerstoffer, showing a phone that looks similar to the X60 Pro. That means we’ve got a 6.5-inch curved display with a center-mounted punch-hole cutout, as well as a sizeable rear camera bump with ZEISS branding. We’re also guessing that this device has a glass back as opposed to the X60 Pro Plus’s faux leather cover.
In saying so, we do see four rear cameras and a repositioned flash module compared to the X60 Pro’s triple rear camera setup. There’s no official word on camera details, but the previous device offered a 48MP main camera with micro-gimbal stabilization, a 13MP ultra-wide lens, and a 13MP 2X telephoto snapper. So hopefully we see a similarly flexible system on the vivo X70 Pro.
The new phone has reportedly appeared on the Google Play Console too, specifically listing a MediaTek Dimensity 1200 chipset, 8GB of RAM, and a Full HD screen resolution.
The company also previously confirmed that it would be offering three years of major OS updates for select phones launched after July 2021. So presumably the X70 Pro will indeed fall under this policy, but we’ll need to wait for the reveal to be sure.
