Though the craze around Pokémon Go has died down a bit since last summer, it still remains one of the most popular mobile games out there. In addition to the introduction of second-gen Pokémon, Niantic launches promotion events from time to time to engage more players, and the latest from the company is the Pokémon Go Water Festival.

As the name might suggest, this in-game event will increase the chances of you encountering water-type Pokémon, even the ever-elusive Lapras:

There’s a global Water Festival in progress, and Magikarp, Squirtle, Totodile, and friends are looking forward to celebrating with you! Starting today at 1 P.M. PDT, you’ll be more likely to encounter Magikarp, Squirtle, Totodile, and their Evolutions all around the world. Additionally, when you’re out exploring areas where Water-type Pokémon more commonly appear, you’ll have a greater chance to encounter several of the Water-type Pokémon originally discovered in the Johto region, and maybe… you might even encounter Lapras.

The event officially starts later today and will end on March 29 at 1 PM (PDT). In addition to the increased number of water-based Pokémon, the Magikarp Hat will be available for your avatar starting today.
