Forget your phone: Wear OS now gives directions and access to more passes
- Wear OS is getting a couple of handy features.
- The wearable OS will now give users access to passes stored in Google Wallet.
- Users can finally view public transit directions on Google Maps for Wear OS.
Back in January, Google added the ability to access airline boarding passes on the Wear OS platform. Now, the company is rolling out two more features that should give your smartwatch even more functionality.
Starting today, Google says owners of Wear OS smartwatches will be able to access more than just airline boarding passes. Wear OS now lets users access event tickets, gym memberships, loyalty cards, and more from their wrists.
Access to more passes isn’t the only update coming to Wear OS today. The company also announced transit directions for Google Maps on Wear OS.
As the tech giant explains, you’ll be able to view public transit directions from your wrist. The new feature will also present you with departure times and compass-guided navigation directions.
With both of these features, there will be even fewer reasons to pull out your phone from your pocket. They should prove to help streamline paying for things and finding your way around. And if you’re someone who wants to spend less time looking at their phone screen, this should be a big help on that mission too.
