Update: May 23, 2022 (2:30 AM ET): We’ve posted our poll results article and it turns out that most of you have had a wearable die due to not having the charger available. You can read our full results article at the link.

Original article: April 19, 2022 (4:38 AM ET): One of the most annoying things about owning a smartwatch or a fitness tracker is proprietary chargers. Nearly every wearable has a proprietary cable, dock, or puck. The lack of universal chargers for these devices makes it difficult to travel without their adapters. Losing a proprietary charger can also be a huge inconvenience. Unlike smartphone chargers, you can’t count on accessories for other devices as a backup.

So we thought of asking you, our readers — how often have you found yourself with the short end of the stick when it comes to charging your wearables? Have you ever been in a situation where your smartwatch or fitness tracker ran out of power because you didn’t have the correct charger handy?

Take our poll below and let us know what you think about proprietary charging for wearables in the comments section.
