AMC Plus: Price, platforms, and more for the AMC Networks streaming service
The family of cable TV networks and streaming services under the AMC Networks brand is pretty large. It also has some of the most acclaimed and popular TV series of all time. AMC Networks gives folks without a cable subscription a way to access most of the company’s cable and streaming content under one umbrella service. It’s called AMC Plus, and it may be one of the best bargains in streaming at the moment.

In this article, we will give you the info on AMC Plus, including pricing, availability, content, and more. You can sign up for the service at the link below if you’re not already a member.
What is AMC Plus?
Launched in June 2020, AMC Plus offers live and on-demand content from many of the AMC Networks cable TV channels and streaming services. That includes streaming services like Shudder, IFC Films Unlimited, and Sundance Now, along with content from the AMC and BBC America cable channels.
It has a big library of films and TV shows from all those sources, including new episodes of the three series set in The Walking Dead universe. You can also stream classic shows like Breaking Bad, Killing Eve, and more, and find exclusive original movies and shows that are only available on the service.
Wait a second — What happened to AMC Premiere?
AMC Premiere was another, older streaming service from the same company that included content from various AMC Network channels. As of August 31, 2021, the company has discontinued this service in favor of AMC Plus.
Where can I watch AMC Plus?
AMC Plus is available in the United States and Canada as a stand-alone service. It’s also available as an add-on via several cable and online TV services.
You can also access the service in Australia but only via Amazon Prime Video and Apple TV Channels.
How to get AMC Plus
To get AMC Plus, you’ll need to subscribe either through the AMC website or via a third-party platform. These platforms include Sling TV, Amazon Prime Video Channels, the Roku Channel, Apple TV Channels, and more.
Once you get AMC Plus, you can use the AMC Plus mobile app, but you need to already have a subscription. You can’t sign up using the app.
Your subscription will be tied to whatever service you use to sign up. If you sign up via Apple TV, you’ll have to watch via Apple TV, for example.
How much is AMC Plus?
How much is AMC Plus? It will cost you $8.99 a month in the US. It’s also available as an annual subscription, which costs $89.99. Check individual carriers, though, as you may find some deals depending on when and where you sign up.
By comparison, a subscription to Shudder or IFC Films Unlimited costs $5.99 a month each, and Sundance Now costs $6.99 a month. Basically, you are getting all the content from three streaming services, plus all the content from AMC and BBC America, for a much lower combined price tag.
Getting it for free: AMC Plus free trial
Does AMC Plus offer a free trial? Yes, it does. Or, rather, it can. The free trial will depend on how you sign up. There is a seven-day free trial on Amazon Prime Video Channels and the Roku Channel, for instance. On Apple TV, however, you’ll get a one-month free trial. If you plan to stick with AMC Plus for years, that probably won’t make a big difference for you, but if you’re trying to get free access for as long as possible, it’s something to keep in mind.
Services like Sling TV and Dish, which add AMC Plus to a live channel package, do not offer a free trial period.
Regardless of your provider, the free trial allows full access to all AMC Plus content. You can cancel your subscription before the trial ends in order to avoid being charged.
In addition, if you are a new or current Verizon customer, you can get a year of the service for free if you buy a new 5G phone with a device payment plan. The free year is also available for Verizon Fios internet and TV customers who sign up for one of its Mix and Match plans, while Verizon Start Unlimited customers can get six months of the service for free.
Is AMC Plus worth it?
AMC Plus offers a ton of content that isn’t available anywhere else. Fans of The Walking Dead could watch the 11th and final season of the show, catching new episodes a week before they debuted on the AMC cable channel. That continues to be true for new episodes of the spin-off shows: Fear The Walking Dead and The Walking Dead: World Beyond. You can also watch live channels like AMC, BBC America, IFC, and SundanceTV without a cable subscription. There’s even a Walking Dead Universe streaming channel that shows episodes from past seasons of The Walking Dead you won’t find on-demand from AMC Plus.
The service includes ad-free access to classic shows like Breaking Bad, Mad Men, Killing Eve, and more. New episodes of shows, like the current season of Doctor Who, go live the next day on AMC Plus, and you can watch its library of films as well, ad-free. In addition, the service is adding new shows that are exclusive to AMC Plus in the US, such as Kin, Ragdoll, and more. More recently, it has added new movies exclusive to the service, including sci-fi movie Apex, horror western Prisoners of the Ghostland, and more.
What platforms and devices does AMC Plus support?
The service is available on iOS and Android mobile platforms. AMC Plus apps are also available for the Apple TV set-top box, Android TV devices, and smart televisions, as well as for the Roku and Amazon Fire TV sticks. In addition, PC users can surf over to amcplus.com and watch the service’s content on a web browser.
You can sign up for AMC Plus via Apple TV Channels, Amazon Prime Video Channels, or The Roku Channel, so you won’t have to remember another login and password. Some cable, satellite, and internet TV providers offer the service as an add-on, including Comcast Xfinity, Dish, DirecTV, Sling TV, and YouTube TV.
As we mentioned, AMC Plus is available in a limited capacity in Canada and Australia, via Amazon Prime Video and Apple TV channels. However, content from BBC America is not included in either country. In Australia, the service does include movies and shows from another AMC Networks streaming service, Acorn TV.
What’s on AMC Plus?
The service includes some of the best TV series ever made, including full seasons of shows like Interview with the Vampire, Mad Men, The Walking Dead, Killing Eve, and many more. You will also find some one-season shows that still deserve a look, like Rubicon, Feed The Beast, and others. In addition, there are classic and recent films from AMC, BBC America, IFC, and Sundance TV. If you love Shudder, all of the great horror movie content is available to watch on AMC Plus as well.
Exclusive AMC Plus shows and movies
AMC Plus has recently been adding shows and movies that are unavailable through any other streaming service in the US. This includes a number of indie movies, as well as TV shows imported from the UK. Here’s a quick look at some of those shows and movies:
- Ultra City Smiths — A crime noir series that is produced by animating children’s dolls. Yep, that’s what we said.
- The North Water — Colin Farrell stars in this UK series set in the mid-19th century on a whaling boat in the Arctic.
- Anna — An Italian series about a disease that kills nearly all adults in the world, leaving children to fend for themselves.
- Ragdoll — A UK crime series about the police searching for a brutal serial killer.
- Archenemy — In this movie, Joe Manganiello plays a man claiming to be a superhero from a parallel world, who lost his powers when he came to our world.
- Apex — A sci-fi version of The Most Dangerous Game, this movie stars Bruce Willis.
AMC Plus will be adding more new shows and movies in the months ahead.

Netflix
If you are a fan of The Walking Dead, Netflix currently offers the first 10 seasons of the zombie show to stream on-demand. It also has two other classic AMC shows: Breaking Bad and the first four seasons of its spinoff, Better Call Saul. Of course, it also has a ton of other great shows, movies, and original content to stream as well, with subscriptions starting at $6.99 a month (with ads).
Hulu
In addition to all of its other movies and TV shows, Hulu is the only streaming location for the first six seasons of Fear The Walking Dead. It also has some AMC shows that are not currently on AMC Plus, including the western series The Son, the odd anthology series Lodge 49, and others. Plans start at $6.99 per month.
Freevee
Want to watch Mad Men but don’t want to pay for AMC Plus? Head over to Amazon’s Freevee (formerly IMDb TV) service, where you can watch all of its seasons for free, with ads. The service has a great selection of other classic and recent TV shows and movies to watch for free as well.
