WhatsApp now lets you create your own stickers
- WhatsApp has quietly rolled out the ability to create your own stickers.
- This seems to be limited to beta users on desktop though.
Sticker packs are a popular alternative to emoji on WhatsApp and other platforms, giving you a greater variety of ways to express yourself. The one downside to WhatsApp’s sticker functionality is that you can’t create them from within the app, but that’s changing.
Serial tipster Mukul Sharma (h/t: 91mobiles) has spotted a button in a beta version of WhatsApp that allows you to create your own stickers. Sharma confirmed to Android Authority that the feature is working right now and available via WhatsApp Web.
We were subsequently able to confirm that the feature is indeed available for us as well, letting us create stickers from photos on our PC. The sticker creation feature also offers tools to accurately snip out the image, crop/rotate, and undo/redo changes. Check out a screenshot below.
This would be a welcome change from the current situation, as WhatsApp currently prompts users to install separate sticker apps from the Play Store. The prompt doesn’t direct users to a specific app, but simply conducts a search for “WASticker.”
There’s no official word on when this feature will be rolling out to all (not just beta users), nor is there any word on whether this will come to WhatsApp on smartphones. But sticker creation on mobile definitely seems like a no-brainer.
