OnePlus 6 teased in video, white option also hinted at
Much has been divulged about the OnePlus 6 already, but you can now add a white color option to the growing list of revelations.
OnePlus recently allowed a few fans to get their hands on the device, blurring the phone out and bleeping mentions of certain features. Footage of the event was uploaded onto the official OnePlus YouTube channel.
Despite blurring the phones, it’s heavily suggested that one of them is a white handset — unless fans are fawning over a device in a white case. OnePlus does have a reputation for ill-conceived marketing ploys, but with fans taking such an interest in that model and its material — it’s described as “smooth” and “elegant” at various points in the video — we expect it’s the real deal and not a (heartbreaking) red herring.
Yes, there’s a 3.5mm jack
The video shows another user remarking on the presence of a headphone jack, which lines up with earlier leaks. This would mean the OnePlus 6 joins the Galaxy S9 as one of the few current flagships on the market with the 3.5mm port.
The decision to include a headphone jack shouldn’t come as a surprise either, after OnePlus executive Carl Pei tweeted results of a recent poll on the matter. The vote found that the vast majority of respondents prefer jacks on their phones.
The hands-on video also sees fans talking about the display notch, though the word itself has been bleeped (it’s pretty obvious that’s the subject of the discussions from 00:55 seconds to 01:08 though). Still, if the notch bothers you, OnePlus CEO Pete Lau has confirmed you’ll be able to hide it via a software toggle. OnePlus follows Huawei in this regard, after the larger company let users hide the cutout on the P20 range.
The OnePlus 6 is confirmed to arrive with a Snapdragon 845 chipset, up to 8GB of RAM, and up to 256GB of storage. Other tipped features include water resistance of some kind and a dual camera setup.
