The OnePlus 6 is perhaps the best smartphone OnePlus has ever made. It packs in a ton of high-end hardware, along with some old fashioned throwbacks, and still sells for hundreds less than the competition.

Here are the top five reasons why you should snap up the OnePlus 6. Believe it or not, it was actually hard to bring this list down to just five reasons.

1. Packed with performance at a low price

The OnePlus 6 has impressive hardware specs, easily matching, and in some cases exceeding the specs found of more well known competitors like the Samsung Galaxy S9HTC U12 Plus, and LG G7 ThinQ.

Even the lowest priced model (at just $529) gets you a phone with the fastest mobile processor available, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845, along with 6GB of RAM and 64GB of onboard storage. For just $50 more, at $579, you can get the OnePlus 6 with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. OnePlus even sells a version with the same amount of RAM and 256GB of storage for $629. Every version also comes with a solid 6.28-inch 2,280 x 1,080 resolution display, 16MP and 20MP rear cameras, and a 16MP front facing camera. The OnePlus 6’s value proposition is pretty wild, especially for the price.

2. You can install the Android P preview on it

Google has allowed the OnePlus 6 to join the Android P beta testing program. It’s one of only a handful of non-Pixel devices to support Google’s next major Android update months before the final version rolls out.

This means you should also be able to get the final version of Android P on the OnePlus 6 when Google officially launches it later this year, instead of waiting months like other phones. Android P has a lot of features we like, like a gesture-based navigation system, improvements in notifications, and much more.

3. It still has a headphone jack

It’s becoming old-fashioned for flagship phones with high-end specs to have a headphone jack, but OnePlus knows plenty of users want to keep using their wired headsets. This should be a huge plus for anyone with an expensive set of wired earbuds or headphones yet.

4. Dash Charge can quickly power up the phone

As with previous OnePlus phones, the OnePlus 6 uses the company’s proprietary Dash Charge technology so owners can quickly charge up the 3,300mAh battery. Testing shows the phone’s charger can get the battery from empty to half charged in about a half hour, or from zero to 100 percent in just over an hour. That means less time waiting for the phone to power up and more time on the road.

5. OxygenOS is still a great Android skin

OxygenOS
We already mentioned how the OnePlus 6 can install the Android P beta, but if you would rather wait for the OS version’s regular release, the Android 8.1 Oreo-based OxygenOS is still solid. It’s close to a stock Android experience, including extra features like Parallel Apps, which lets you run more than one instance of the same app on your phone.

OxygenOS has its own version of Face Unlock for the OnePlus 6’s front-facing camera, and it even has a Gaming mode to cut resources to background applications so more are dedicated to your game. OnePlus has done a better job over the years in updating OxygenOS on its phones with even more features, and that will likely continue with the OnePlus 6.

Honorable mentions

There are some other reasons to pick up the OnePlus 6. Its new all-glass design looks and feels cooler than the glass and metal design of previous OnePlus phones. We also love the colors options — midnight black, mirror black, and silk white all look great due to the special film application placed over the glass. We also like that OnePlus 6 adds optical image stabilization (OIS) to the rear cameras, along with the ability to shoot 4K video at 60fps.

Conclusion

As you can see, there are lots of reasons to get a OnePlus 6. From its high-end hardware to its ability to run Android P and much more, you will be hard pressed to find a better unlocked phone at such a low price.
