Xiaomi 12 Ultra specs leak: What to expect from Xiaomi's next superphone?

The Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra marked the company’s first serious foray into the ultra-premium market, delivering a flagship phone with plenty of features you’d expect from a €1,200 device.

The Chinese brand is expected to launch the Xiaomi 12 Ultra later this year and frequent tipster Yogesh Brar has posted a list of specs on Twitter. Check out a screenshot of the tweet below.

Perhaps the most notable claimed upgrade here is the Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 chipset. However, it also looks like last year’s QHD+ 120Hz OLED screen is using LTPO technology this time for better efficiency.

Unfortunately, it also seems like the phone is getting a slightly smaller battery and slightly slower wireless charging. The rumored specs point to a 4,800mAh battery and 50W wireless charging compared to last year’s phone offering a 5,000mAh battery and 67W wireless charging.

Otherwise, it all looks very similar to the Mi 11 Ultra. That means 8GB or 12GB of RAM, 256GB or 512GB of storage, and a 20MP selfie camera.

The Xiaomi 12 Ultra also seems to maintain its predecessor’s rear camera setup at first glance, namely a 50MP main camera with optical image stabilization, a 48MP ultrawide camera, a 48MP 5x periscope camera, a time-of-flight sensor, and laser autofocus. Xiaomi could potentially offer newer image sensors, but we’ll need to wait and see. The company also said the first phone as part of its partnership with camera firm Leica will launch in July, so it’s theoretically possible this is the device in question.

There’s no word on features like an IP68 rating and that secondary rear screen though. We’d be disappointed if the phone missed out on the former, as it’s expected to have an ultra-premium price tag. We also hope the company does a much better job in terms of availability, as the Mi 11 Ultra saw a limited release presumably due to the global chip shortage.
