Now, Xiaomi has set a new launch date for the flagship phones. The company revealed on Weibo that it’ll launch the Xiaomi 13 series and MIUI 14 on December 11.
Original article: November 28, 2022 (12:50 AM ET): Xiaomi decided to launch its flagship phones a little earlier last time out, opting to release the Xiaomi 12 series in China in late December 2021. Now, the company has dished out launch details for its new-generation flagships.
Xiaomi confirmed on Weibo that the Xiaomi 13, Xiaomi 13 Pro, and MIUI 14 update will be launched in China on Thursday, December 1 at 7 PM Beijing time (6 AM ET). Check out the official poster below, also confirming Leica branding.
Interestingly, there’s no mention of an X-series device this time. The Xiaomi 12 and 12 Pro were accompanied by the cheaper 12X last year, featuring an older Snapdragon 870 processor as well as a pocket-friendly design.
In any event, Xiaomi added on Weibo that the standard model is equipped with a flat OLED screen and 1.61mm thick bezels. Furthermore, the company said the series will be equipped with an IP68 rating. We’ve also seen plenty of leaks drop in recent weeks, such as the use of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor, a one-inch IMX989 sensor for the Pro model, and telephoto cameras on both models.
Apparent Xiaomi 13 series phone renders also dropped earlier this month, giving us a good idea of what to expect come December 1. You can check out our dedicated Xiaomi 13 series rumor hub for these images and more details ahead of the Chinese launch.
