Xiaomi will bring Android Q and MIUI 11 to at least 13 devices
Taking in the MIUI forums this past Friday, a Xiaomi product manager announced the company’s Android Q update roadmap.
According to the roadmap, 10 Xiaomi and Redmi devices will get Android Q by the end of 2019. The update will then head to two more Redmi devices by the end of Q1 2020.
Xiaomi’s Alvin Tse hinted on Twitter about the Pocophone F1’s Android Q update. Tse remained quiet on exactly when the update will arrive, though we can expect it either by the end of 2019 or sometime in 2020.
Here’s what the Android Q roadmap for Xiaomi looks like so far:
- Q4 2019
- Xiaomi Mi 9
- Xiaomi Mi 9 SE
- Xiaomi Mi 8
- Xiaomi Mi 8 Pro
- Xiaomi Mi 8 Explorer Edition
- Xiaomi Mi Mix 2S
- Xiaomi Mi Mix 3
- Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 5G
- Redmi K20
- Redmi K20 Pro
- Q1 2020
- Redmi Note 7
- Redmi Note 7 Pro
- TBA
We’ll have to wait and see if additional Xiaomi and Redmi devices will get Android Q.
Alongside Android Q will be MIUI 11, Xiaomi’s latest iteration of its Android overlay. MIUI 11 will feature updated icons and animations, a new ultra-power-saving mode, changes to the status bar to accommodate phones with notches, and more.
Xiaomi has remained uncharacteristically quiet on MIUI 11’s features and release. That said, we can expect to see it starting Q4 2019.
