Xiaomi just confirmed Mi 11 Pro in one of its own apps (Updated)
- Xiaomi is apparently readying a Mi 11 Pro as well.
- The phone is said to feature the same screen specs as the standard model.
- Confirmation of the Xiaomi Mi 11 Pro has now been spotted in MIUI 12’s Gallery app.
Update: December 31, 2020 (4:45 AM ET): More evidence that Xiaomi is working on a Mi 11 Pro has been uncovered in the code of MIUI 12‘s Gallery app.
Per an XDA teardown, the stock app makes mention of the phone and seemingly suggests it will have a curved display, too. Beyond this, not much else is known about the phone beyond the info garnered from leaks. But at least now you can be assured a Pro model is in the works for 2021.
Original article: December 30, 2020 (1:50 AM ET): Xiaomi launched the Mi 11 earlier this week, making for a solid upgrade in theory over the standard Mi 10. The Mi 10 Pro was also released earlier this year, but Xiaomi didn’t mention a Mi 11 Pro at Tuesday’s launch event.
Now, Weibo tipster Digital Chat Station has suggested that a Mi 11 Pro is indeed coming. More specifically, the leaker alleges that the Pro variant has “exactly the same” screen specs as the standard model. Check out the screenshot below.
The leaker also claimed in a previous comment that the standard and Pro models wouldn’t launch together and that the standard variant would be the only option available before the Spring Festival (held in mid-February). In other words, it’s suggested that a Pro model would be available thereafter.
The vanilla Mi 11 packs a QHD+ OLED screen for the first time since 2016’s Mi Note Pro. But it also offers a 120Hz refresh rate, punch-hole cutout, and Gorilla Glass Victus. So if the tipster is correct about the Pro model’s existence and screen details, then it could deliver a great display experience on paper too.
We’ve asked Xiaomi for comment regarding the existence of the Mi 11 Pro but the company said it had nothing to share right now. Nevertheless, we’d expect a Pro model to feature faster wired charging and telephoto cameras, among other upgrades.
What do you want to see from a Xiaomi Mi 11 Pro?
Digital Chat Station also asserts that Xiaomi is working on a new phone with an under-screen selfie camera. This wouldn’t be a surprise, as the manufacturer confirmed in August that it will be mass-producing phones with this tech in 2021.
