Xiaomi Mi 9 tipped to join 60fps bandwagon in Fortnite Mobile
Fortnite Mobile is one of the more demanding games on Android right now, but a select few devices are able to officially run the title at 60 frames per second (fps). Now, the latest device to join the party is reportedly the Xiaomi Mi 9.
XDA-Developers reported that the Xiaomi flagship does indeed support the higher frame-rate, which should translate into a smoother visual experience. Developer Epic Games hasn’t updated its FAQ page with the new phone though, the outlet notes.
The FAQ currently lists three phones as capable of playing Fortnite at 60fps: the Snapdragon 845-toting Samsung Galaxy Note 9, the HUAWEI Mate 20 X, and the HONOR View 20. The outlet adds that the Galaxy S10 series is also capable of 60fps gameplay, but it hasn’t been added to the list either.
The Mi 9’s ability to support the higher frame-rate isn’t surprising, as it’s one of several recent phones using Qualcomm’s brand-new Snapdragon 855 chipset. So it stands to reason that other Snapdragon 855 smartphones are good contenders to be next in line. Some of the more prominent phones in this regard include the LG G8 ThinQ, the Sony Xperia 1, and the Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 5G.
