Xiaomi Mi Box officially launched: 60fps 4K video and HDR for just $69

Xiaomi’s Mi Box has been in the works for months. First unveiled during Google I/O back in May, the Mi Box aimed to be an affordable Android TV-powered set-top box with a few features other devices don’t offer. If you’ve been waiting patiently for this little device to go on sale, you’re in luck: the Xiaomi Mi Box can be yours starting today for just $69!

Xiaomi Mi Box specifications and features

Perhaps the biggest draw to the Mi Box is its support for 4K Ultra HD video playback at 60 frames per second. It also supports the latest HDR10 standard that promises improvements in color and contrast, as well as a great audio experience with Dolby Digital Plus and DTS Surround Sound. It’s powered by a quad-core ARM Cortex-A53 CPU and Mali 450 GPU and 2GB of RAM, so you’ll also be able to play games without issue. There is only 8GB of on-board storage, though it is expandable via USB.

Lastly, the Mi Box comes with a Bluetooth remote that supports voice search and commands. You can also change channels, hop over to a specific movie or show, perform web searches and launch apps just by speaking into the remote. It can also be used as a controller for your Android TV games.

As mentioned earlier, the Xiaomi Mi Box is now available for purchase from Mi.com and Walmart for $69. It’s available in only one color option, Black, and comes with a few extras with a total value of $76. When you purchase a Mi Box, you’ll get a $50 credit towards a Sling TV subscription, a 3-month free trial of Pandora, as well as a $5 VUDU credit. Xiaomi brings 4K Mi Box to the United States for $69

Mi Box supports 4K Ultra HD video content playback at 60 frames per second, for the sharpest image quality and smoothest video playback. In addition, Mi Box supports the latest HDR10 standard (to be enabled from Android N onwards), which promises improvements in color and contrast for a significant leap in picture quality when used with compatible TVs.

Mi Box supports Microsoft’s hardware-based DRM technology PlayReady 3.0, which protects 4K and HDR content and enables a rich viewing experience for 4K Ultra HD video content.
