Xiaomi Mi MIX sequel in the works, confirms company CEO
The Xiaomi Mi MIX was an exciting, if somewhat impractical phone. The near bezel-less design was striking but a couple of usability issues prevented it from being a world-beater. It appears Xiaomi isn’t done with the Mi MIX ideology, though, as its CEO Lei Jun recently confirmed that a successor is in the works.
Lei made the announcement on Chinese social site Weibo but was light on specific details. He did, however, confirm that the company would again partner with French designer Philippe Starck for the Mi MIX sequel, as it did with the original.
The Mi MIX was only released last November, so we’ve probably still got a few months to wait before its successor lands. Nevertheless, rumors have already been cropping up, including the suggestion that the Mi MIX 2 would have a 100% screen to body ratio. As in, the display would cover the entire body.
It’s certainly an exciting prospect but Xiaomi itself hasn’t even finalized its plans for the handset yet, so anything could happen.
