The Xiaomi Mi Smart Clock includes a touchscreen with video support
Update – March 26, 2021 – The Xiaomi Mi Smart Clock is now available in Europe. It is also available in the US via stores like eBay.
Xiaomi is getting into the smart clock business. Following in the footsteps of Amazon, Google, and Lenovo, the company has announced the Mi Smart Clock. The reveal was made as part of Xiaomi’s European launch of the Redmi 9T and Redmi Note 9T smartphones in January
The Mi Smart Clock has a 3.97-inch touchscreen color display. It can show video from your connected security cameras so you can keep an eye on your house, or if you just to watch your pets play in another room. The clock also includes support Google Assistant with two built-in far-field microphones.
Chromecast support is also baked-in. In theory, that means you could cast video from YouTube, Netflix, or other Chromecast-supported smartphone apps to the clock’s display, although that was not shown during the brief reveal.
In addition, the Mi Smart Clock can be used to display your digital photo collection, along with serving as a hub for controlling your smart home devices. Of course, it’s also a smart speaker. Xiaomi says it can connect directly to your favorite music streaming services. For people who will use it as a fancy alarm clock, it has a Sunrise feature that gradually increases the light coming from the clock so you can wake up easier.
The Xiaomi Mi Smart Clock is priced at €49.99 in European countries. It is also available in the US via third-party stores like eBay.
