'Tis the season for foldables: Xiaomi announces Mix Fold 2 arrival
- Xiaomi will launch the Mix Fold 2 on August 11.
- The phone will feature a Leica-tuned camera setup.
It’s going to rain a parade of foldable phones starting August 10. Samsung will kick things off with the Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Z Flip 4, followed by Motorola on August 11 with the Razr 2022. Xiaomi has also joined the party and announced that its next foldable flagship — the Mix Fold 2 — will also arrive on August 11.
The company posted a teaser poster for the phone on its Weibo handle, showing what looks like the metallic hinge of the phone. There’s not much else that the poster reveals, except that the Mix Fold 2 will also take advantage of Xiaomi’s recent tie-up with Leica.
The Mix Fold 2 is expected to inherit the design of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3. That means you can expect an inwards folding device with an exterior display.
Leaks suggest the new foldable phone will get a 6.5-inch cover display and an 8-inch folding screen. Both the screens might improve upon the 60Hz refresh rate of the original Mix Fold and up it to 120Hz.
Xiaomi has also apparently improved the creasing on the flexible screen and added LTPO tech to the mix.
The Mi Mix Fold launched with the Snapdragon 888 chip, so it’s safe to assume that the Mix Fold 2 will also carry a premium Qualcomm SoC, perhaps the Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1. We won’t have to wait long to find out.
