The POCO M3 is coming next week, but is it a rebrand?
- A new POCO phone is set to debut later this month.
- Dubbed the POCO M3, the smartphone will be unveiled on November 24.
Another Poco smartphone is ready to make its debut next week. Per a tweet from POCO’s global Twitter account, the POCO M3 will apparently be unveiled in China on November 24, at 8PM CST (7AM ET).
Xiaomi’s brand revealed little else about the POCO M3 bar its title. Judging by the firm’s previous track record, it’s likely to be yet another rebrand. POCO has launched just one original design in 2020.
It’s unclear which Xiaomi phone may be used as a base. A Geekbench listing spotted earlier today (h/t MySmartPrice) points to a new Xiaomi phone with the model number M2010J19CG running an Adreno 610 GPU with 4GB of RAM. The GPU may be part of a Snapdragon 662 chipset.
The phone is believed to be an upcoming Redmi Note model for global markets. It should be mentioned that benchmarks can be easily manipulated and should be taken with a pinch of salt. That said, the same model was spotted labeled as a POCO on Singapore’s IMDA certification site earlier this month.
Whatever it’s based on, POCO will likely want to keep the M3’s cost below the $200 mark. The POCO M2‘s pricier version tipped the scales at Rs 12,499 (~$170) in India at its time of launch. It should however slot in above the Rs 8,999 (~$123) POCO C3.
The brand will likely continue to focus on the M series’ strengths, namely offering a large battery, multiple camera options, and a sizeable display in an affordable shell.
