Xiaomi POCOphone hits FCC — is Xiaomi readying a new device family?
- Xiaomi is working on a new device with the brand name ‘Pocophone,’ according to an FCC filing.
- The new phone packs 6GB of RAM and up to 128GB of storage, the documents show.
- It’s unclear whether the new brand will live alongside the Mi and Redmi range.
Xiaomi is expected to deliver more phones for the second half of the year, such as the Mi Max 3 and Mi Mix 3. A new FCC filing, however, suggests we could be in for another device, dubbed POCOphone.

The filing revealed the POCOphone brand name and model number (M1805E10A), but we also see a reference to two variants. Both models pack 6GB of RAM, but they differ in the storage departments, offering 64GB or 128GB of space.
The storage and RAM amounts suggest the POCOphone could be a top-level device, but it’s not a given; the Redmi Note 5 Pro is considered a mid-range Xiaomi device, but it’s available in a 6GB RAM/64GB storage option. We won’t know for sure until we see more specs.
In any case, the fact that Xiaomi chose this name suggests the new device will stand out from the company’s other device families.
Xiaomi already has the budget-minded Redmi series, comprised of the standard Redmi phones and the Redmi Note phablet family. Meanwhile, the Mi series aims higher, featuring the Mi flagships, innovative Mi Mix devices, and the gigantic Mi Max phones.
The POCOphone brand could simply be a region-specific or even a codename for a device from the Mi or Redmi series. If the company is starting a new device family, though, Xiaomi would need to differentiate it from its other phones somehow — and it would be interesting to see what approach it takes. It’s not every day there’s a new series from Xiaomi.
