At CES 2020, one of our favorite new products was the Yale Smart Delivery Box. Today, you can finally buy the security device, which will help protect your packages and other valuables from porch pirates.
The Delivery Box connects to your in-home Wi-Fi and then you use a smartphone app to lock or unlock it whenever needed. There’s also an optional keypad that allows your trusted delivery person to open the locked box whenever necessary.
Yale Smart Delivery Box: Bringing you peace-of-mind
Although the Smart Delivery Box just looks like a big plastic container, there’s actually quite a bit going on. First off, you can choose between two ways to secure the box to your porch: using a tether or weighing it down with sand or some other weighty material.
The optimal way to use the Delivery Box is to leave it unlocked when it’s empty. When a delivery person puts a package inside it, the box will auto-lock and your smartphone will notify you. You can then rest assured it will be safe until you are able to retrieve it.
If you want to spend a bit more cash, there’s an optional keypad that attaches wirelessly either to the box itself or somewhere nearby. You can create a passcode and give it to your trusted delivery person, who can then unlock the box whenever necessary. This is ideal for travelers or for those who get lots of deliveries throughout the day.
Additionally, you can also put a soft-sided cooler into the box, which would keep any grocery deliveries cool or any meal deliveries hot. That’s also sold separately, though.
Available today starting at $230
The Yale Smart Delivery Box comes in two colorways: Kent, which is the light gray version, and Brighton, which is the darker gray. The Brighton model starts at $229.99. For whatever reason, the Kent model is more expensive, starting at $279.99.
If you want to add the optional keypad, that increases the price of each model by $50. That would make the Brighton model $279.99 and the Kent model $329.99.
