Starting December, YouTube will no longer show suggested video links

Odds are that you have encountered suggested video links when watching stuff on YouTube. Odds also are that you did not pay too much attention to those links, which is why YouTube announced it will remove all suggested video links, whether they be for playlists, videos, or livestreams, on December 14.

The reason, according to YouTube, was a lack of clicks, with only one out of 20 people clicked on the links at any given time. Most of the people who did click on them were taken to dead livestreams, with folks feeling that the links felt like spam.

Because of the low numbers, YouTube does not sound very broken up about its decision to remove suggested video links. Folks are more than welcome to use cards and links at the end of their videos to promote any additional content, as well as place any related links in the video description and other areas.

For the majority of the viewing public, they likely will not notice the change, seeing how they did not click on those links to begin with. For those that did, YouTube’s decision looks to be a welcome one, since they will not feel like they’re being hit with spam.

Either side you land on, the removal of suggested video links might be a bit awkward, in the sense that older videos will refer to pop-up links that will no longer exist.

YouTube says its removal of suggested video links will happen on December 14, so YouTube creators should take note.
